Yes, You Need a Blog

By Ashley Weirmaa

Your fingers shake, your vision blurs, and your voice trembles as you proofread.

You start to wonder if it’s even worth it.

Blogging is difficult.

Okay, maybe it’s not as difficult as open-heart surgery, being Kayne West’s publicist, or homeschooling your children.

But it’s still difficult. You’re suddenly obsessively reading comments on your blog posts, exploring influencer trends, and reading Reddit threads about grammar (you’re still not sure how to use the “em” dash).

You’re close to giving up.

Don’t Give Up!

If you look into the ancient history of online content the birth of the all-mighty, social influencer can be traced back to the inception of the blog. This is evidence of the power you have, within a finger’s reach.

Most companies’ blogs fail not because they’re bad bloggers, but because they’re trying to do too much, all by themselves. Consider hiring a contractor to write posts or switch off the responsibility so the blog stays fresh and consistent, create a blog schedule for the quarter with about 2-3 posts per month to stay on track, research SEO keywords and strategies, and seek feedback from your employees, clients, and readers.

Remember, a good company blog isn’t about learning a traffic strategy or new tricks, it’s about creating great and consistent content about your company.

If you’re still not convinced about your company’s blog, here are five things your blog can for your company:

  1. Boosts your company’s SEO
  2. Gives your company a voice
  3. Bolsters your company’s social media
  4. Increases your credibility
  5. Builds traffic through internal linking, backlinking, and searches

So stop licking your wounds, do some research, and get your blog back on track. No, blogging won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
